From Birth To Death William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-On-Avon, England on the 23rd of April 1564. Shakespeare was christened shortly after on the 26th of April 1564. Shakespeare at the age of four attended a small private school, which taught both girls and boys how to read. At the age of six he continued his education at the local grammer school. Shakespeare continued school until he was 15. After this it is known as 'Shakespeare's Lost Years', there is very little information about him until he is described as an 'up-and-coming play writer'. In November of 1582 at the age of 18, Shakespeare married 26 year old Anne-Hathaway who was expecting their first child. Shakespeare had 3 children; Susanna who was born May 1583 and twins Judith and Hannet born in 1588. During the late 1580's, Shakespeare moved to London, leaving his family in England. By the year 1592 Shakespeare had become an established writer on the theatre scene. Shakespeare later turned to poetry during the years 1592-1594 when the theatres were closed due to the plague. Shakespeare joined the group The Lord Chamberlain's Men during 1594. By 1598 the group was responsible for building the new theatre. Shakespeare continued writing plays until he moved back to London. He died on the 23rd of April 1611 and was buried at the Holy Trinity Church in Stratford. |
